Ben Turner Seals First Grand Tour Victory With Stage 4 Win at La Vuelta
Great Britain’s Ben Turner claimed his first Grand Tour stage win after a powerful sprint finish on a rolling 206.7km course from Susa to Voiron on Vuelta a España stage four.
Ben Turner claimed his maiden Grand Tour stage victory on the fourth stage of the Vuelta a España.
On a 206.7km medium mountain course from Susa to Voiron, the 26-year-old Briton outpaced Belgian riders Jasper Philipsen and Edward Planckaert to take the win. A late addition to Ineos Grenadiers’ lineup after Lucas Hamilton withdrew with illness, Turner produced a commanding sprint on the uphill run to the line.
“It’s a crazy feeling. I really believed in myself today and trusted what I had to do,” Turner said after his third professional triumph.
General Classification Update
France’s David Gaudu, winner of stage three, secured enough time gaps to don the red jersey. He leads overall on a count-back ahead of Denmark’s Jonas Vingegaard.
Turner’s unexpected sprint victory highlights the depth and unpredictability of modern Grand Tour racing.
