World number one Atthaya Thitikul defended her CME Group Tour Championship title at Tiburon Golf Club in Naples, Florida, finishing 26-under to win by four over Pajaree Anannarukarn. The victory also delivered the $4 million prize and capped a season that saw her claim the LPGA Player of the Year award and the Vare Trophy for the season's scoring average.
With the triumph, Thitikul joined Ko Jin-young as the only players to win back-to-back CME Group Tour Championship titles.
“I love this golf course,” Thitikul said. “Playing here in the last tournament of the year gives me really good energy.”
“Last week in Dallas, I was worried if I would be able to play this week. But I think that was the point — that I'm not thinking too much, just focusing on playing. That’s really good enough.”
Starting Sunday six shots clear, Thitikul saw her margin shrink as Pajaree Anannarukarn made early gains with birdies on holes 1–3 and 6–7 to cut the lead to two. The Thai teenager steadied with a back-nine birdie burst to push the advantage back to five before Pajaree bogeyed the 12th. She closed with back-to-back birdies at 16 and 17, but Thitikul sealed the win with a closing birdie on 18 to reach 26-under.
Thitikul’s fellow English players, Lottie Woad and Charley Hull, finished tied for 11-under.
