October 21st Hosted the First International Student Tourism Congress: 'Tourism of the Future – The Future of Tourism'
Over 10,000 participants from Russia, CIS countries, and beyond gathered online to explore the future and development prospects of the tourism industry.
More than 10,000 participants from Russia, the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), and other countries engaged in an online discussion about the future prospects of the tourism industry.
The congress served as a unique virtual platform fostering international collaboration and professional dialogue among students and leading experts in Russian and global tourism. The primary goal of the event was to harness the potential of talented youth to drive tourism development and international cooperation. Furthermore, the online congress aimed to nurture a new generation of tourists who are knowledgeable about both domestic and global culture and history, who respect natural heritage, and who lead active and healthy lifestyles.
Addressing the future of tourism in Russia, Alexey Volkov, President of the National Hospitality Industry Union, highlighted the launch of the relatively new national project "Tourism and Hospitality Industry."
"This national project was recently introduced to advance the hospitality sector in the country," Volkov stated. "As a benchmark and example, the national project 'Small and Medium Entrepreneurship' should be mentioned, which provides direct, targeted support to entrepreneurs and self-employed individuals across various regions, including those actively involved in tourism. While the 'Small and Medium Entrepreneurship' project closely cooperates with the SME Corporation, support and productive collaboration in tourism are already underway through the 'Tourism RF Corporation.'"
Experts from fields directly related to the industry—including business, science, education, culture, space exploration, and international relations—participated as speakers. The event featured participants and guests from Russia, Germany, Bulgaria, Poland, Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, and Kyrgyzstan.
The congress was organized with the support of the Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education, the Federal Agency for Tourism (Rostourism), the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs (Rosmolodezh), the Russian Geographical Society, the National Hospitality Industry Union (NHUI), the All-Russian "Masters of Hospitality" competition, and the national project "Small and Medium Entrepreneurship and Support of Individual Entrepreneurial Initiatives."
