More than 70,000 complaints were submitted to the Supreme Council of Turkish Radio and Television, citing historical inaccuracies in the series.
This sparked a significant outcry over the discrepancies between historical facts and the show's storyline. Additionally, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, then Prime Minister of Turkey, criticized the series, stating that the creators sought to portray Turkish history negatively to the younger generation.
As a result, the producers clarified that while the series was inspired by historical events, "Magnificent Century" does not claim historical accuracy.
