Jeff Bezos' Blue Origin successfully completed its second suborbital space tourism flight, carrying legendary 'Star Trek' actor William Shatner and other notable passengers to the edge of space.
The suborbital spacecraft ascended to an altitude of 107 kilometers.
Jeff Bezos' Blue Origin has successfully conducted its second launch of the New Shepard spacecraft, carrying a group of space tourists. Among the crew was 90-year-old actor William Shatner, famed for his role as Captain Kirk in the "Star Trek" series. He became the oldest person ever to travel to space.
Joining Shatner were Blue Origin Vice President Audrey Powers, former NASA engineer Chris Boshuizen, and Dassault Systèmes Vice President Glen de Vries.
The New Shepard vehicle lifted the tourists to 107 kilometers above Earth. The entire flight lasted 11 minutes, with approximately 3 to 4 minutes spent in complete weightlessness. After the suborbital journey, the spacecraft safely returned to Earth. Jeff Bezos personally welcomed the new astronauts upon landing.
The mission was broadcast live on YouTube.
