Jeff Bezos: Could He Become the World's First Trillionaire by 2042?
In just 25 years, Jeff Bezos might reach the unprecedented milestone of a $1 trillion net worth.
Jeff Bezos's initial reign as the richest individual globally was brief, but the Amazon.com Inc. (AMZN) CEO has reclaimed his throne and is now on a trajectory toward an even more extraordinary achievement: becoming the world's first trillionaire. Following Amazon's impressive third-quarter revenue of $43.7 billion, its stock price surged by 34%, surpassing the $1,000 mark. This leap elevated Bezos's net worth to $91.4 billion, overtaking Microsoft founder Bill Gates, as reported by Forbes.
Although $910 billion remains to reach the trillionaire milestone, a 2017 Oxfam report on global wealth inequality suggests that today's billionaires could be tomorrow's trillionaires. The report, titled "An Economy For The 99%," highlights the rapid wealth accumulation among the ultra-rich. In 2009, there were 793 billionaires collectively holding $2.4 trillion. By 2016, this group's wealth had more than doubled to $5 trillion, growing at an astonishing 11% annually.
If this growth trend persists, the report projects that the world's first trillionaire could emerge within the next 25 years. While Bezos and Gates remain close competitors, Bezos appears to have a long-term edge, continually expanding Amazon's empire. In contrast, Gates has shifted his focus toward philanthropy and humanitarian initiatives.

Though reaching a $1 trillion net worth may seem far-fetched to many, Oxfam's analysis reveals that the wealthy enjoy returns far exceeding those of the average individual. At an 11% annual growth rate, Bezos could hit the trillion-dollar mark by age 78, just 25 years from now.
However, beyond these projections, the report underscores a critical issue: the widening global wealth gap. It reveals that merely eight men possess wealth equal to that of the poorest 50% of the world's population.
