Two Tribes secures Stewards' Cup at Glorious Goodwood
Two Tribes, strongly supported, clinched the Stewards' Cup at Glorious Goodwood, marking his second win in a week.
Two Tribes made history at Glorious Goodwood, winning the prestigious Stewards' Cup for trainer Richard Spencer.
The 11-2 favourite, ridden by David Egan, had been available at 18-1 odds just a day earlier. Named after the 1980s Frankie Goes to Hollywood hit, the Phil Cunningham-owned colt had triumphed in the Ascot International Handicap seven days before.
Despite a wide draw at stall 25 of 27, Two Tribes powered to a convincing two-and-a-half-length victory over Strike Red, with Jakajaro taking third. Egan said, "He actually did it easier there than he did in the International. Not many horses can do a quick double like that."
Spencer also celebrated strong placings from Run Boy Run and Twilight Calls in fourth and fifth.
Earlier on the card, Callum Rodriguez steered Owen Burrows' filly Waardah to a commanding win in the Lillie Langtry Stakes. Rodriguez, who overcame a disrupted week after an emergency plane landing, added, "It was a messy start to the week, but we made sure we were on four wheels today."
Two Tribes reinforced his elite status by completing a rare Cup double in just one week, while Waardah capped a turbulent week with a strong victory in the Lillie Langtry Stakes.
