Fast-fashion retailer Shein said it has removed an advertisement after discovering an image resembling Luigi Mangione, accused of murdering UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, was used to model a shirt.

The listing, which showed the man in a white short-sleeved shirt, was on sale for just under $10 before it was taken down.

A Shein spokesperson told INLIBER News that the image was removed immediately upon discovery. “We have stringent standards for listing content,” the spokesperson said. “We are conducting a thorough review and strengthening our monitoring processes.”

It remains unclear how long the image was online or which seller originally posted it. Many have speculated the photo was generated by artificial intelligence, but the method has not been confirmed.

In April, Mangione, 26, pleaded not guilty to federal charges in the fatal shooting of Thompson. He faces murder and stalking counts and could face the death penalty if convicted.
