Paul Scholes says United lack quality for Amorim's 3-4-3 system
Manchester United legend Paul Scholes criticizes the club's summer signings and doubts they fit Ruben Amorim's tactics as the team struggles in the Premier League.
Paul Scholes says Manchester United made serious errors in their summer transfers and lacks the quality to run Ruben Amorim's 3-4-3 formation.
United have collected only four points from four Premier League games, their worst start since 1992-93. Despite spending around £200m on Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko, the team has scored just four league goals, two of which were own goals.
Midfield and goalkeeping concerns
Scholes told INLIBER Radio 5 Live the squad is missing key players in central midfield and between the posts. He argued that investing in a ball-playing midfielder with stamina and an elite goalkeeper should have been Manchester United's top priorities.
Pressure builds on Amorim
With Chelsea, Brentford, Sunderland and Liverpool up next, Scholes believes results must improve quickly. "He cannot carry on playing this way," Scholes said of Amorim. "He has to win games or the pressure will mount massively."
The current squad lacks the quality to execute Amorim's system, and without changes in personnel or tactics, results will suffer.
