How Often Do You Upgrade Your Smartphone? Discover the Latest Trends
Explore why smartphone users are holding onto their devices longer than ever before and what influences their upgrade decisions.
Do you upgrade your smartphone every year, every two years, or even less frequently?
According to a recent study by Strategy Analytics, consumers are now replacing their smartphones significantly less often. On average, people are waiting three years or more before purchasing a new model, compared to the previous average upgrade cycle of about one and a half years. This insight comes from a survey of 2,500 individuals aged 18 to 64.
The primary reason for this extended usage is the rising cost of flagship devices. Currently, only around 7% of users are willing to spend over $1,000 on a new smartphone.
Another major factor discouraging frequent upgrades is the perceived lack of meaningful innovations in new models. Many users feel that the latest devices do not offer substantial improvements over their current phones.
