Premier League Clubs Name Champions League, Europa and Conference League Squads

Premier League clubs have registered their squads for UEFA competitions, with notable inclusions and omissions across Arsenal, Liverpool, Newcastle and more.

European club football resumes after the international break as Premier League teams confirm their UEFA squad lists.

Arsenal include 15-year-old Max Dowman in their Champions League group-stage squad, potentially making him the youngest competitor in the competition’s history, while Liverpool omit Federico Chiesa. Nottingham Forest’s record signing Omari Hutchinson and several other summer arrivals have been left out of their Europa League squad.

Champions League squads

Liverpool manager Arne Slot named a 22-man roster without new signing Federico Chiesa. The squad features 17 players who did not qualify as locally trained, including young forward Rio Ngumoha. Recent summer signings such as Florian Wirtz, Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike are included.

Arsenal have selected midfielder Dowman, born 31 December 2009, who could break the record for the youngest Champions League appearance. Injured striker Gabriel Jesus is omitted. Young talents Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly can still be registered on List B.

Chelsea left Argentina forward Facundo Buonanotte out of their 23-man squad despite his enthusiasm to play in Europe. Tottenham manager Thomas Frank did not include £30m signing Mathys Tel, while Randal Kolo Muani and Xavi Simons make the cut.

Newcastle United added new forwards Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa to replace Alexander Isak. Several summer signings such as Aaron Ramsdale and Jacob Ramsey feature in Eddie Howe’s squad. Manchester City registered Gianluigi Donnarumma and midfielder Rayan Cherki despite his injury setback.

Europa League & Conference League squads

Nottingham Forest omitted winger Omari Hutchinson and four other summer signings from their 22-man Europa League squad. Midfielders Jota Silva and Taiwo Awoniyi are also absent. Aston Villa’s 21-man squad excludes Ross Barkley but retains Emiliano Martinez along with new additions Victor Lindelöf, Harvey Elliott and Jadon Sancho. Crystal Palace named captain Marc Guehi after his transfer to Liverpool fell through.

What are the squad rules in Europe?

UEFA requires List A squads of up to 25 players with eight homegrown slots (four club-trained, four association-trained). List B allows unlimited under-21 players registered with the club for at least two years. List A submissions were due Wednesday, while List B can be updated until 23:00 BST before each match. Players involved in qualifying rounds may still represent another club in the group stages.

Arsenal’s inclusion of 15-year-old Max Dowman highlights the growing trend of clubs promoting young talents in European competitions.
