Nizhny Novgorod Hosts the Ultimate Professional Skills Championship
Discover how Nizhny Novgorod is set to become the epicenter of professional excellence as it hosts the grand finale of the nationwide skills championship, uniting thousands of young talents across diverse industries.
The grand finale of the nationwide Professional Skills Championship will take place from May 25 to May 30 at the Federal Technopark for Professional Education in Nizhny Novgorod. This prestigious event is organized by the Ministry of Education of Russia, supported by the Government of the Russian Federation, with the Institute for the Development of Professional Education as the federal operator and the Nizhny Novgorod region serving as the regional organizer.
The opening ceremony will be held on May 25 at the Nizhny Novgorod Palace of Sports, setting the stage for an inspiring week filled with competition and collaboration.
"Thanks to the federal initiative 'Professionalism,' now part of the national project 'Youth and Children,' Russia is actively nurturing a vibrant ecosystem of professional mastery championships. This year alone, five such competitions will unite 350,000 diligent and motivated students from secondary vocational education institutions and young professionals," said Dmitry Chernyshenko, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia.
The competitive events commence on May 26. College and technical school students will showcase their talents in the 'Main' category, while high school students aged 14 and above will compete in the 'Juniors' category. Young professionals from related industries will participate in the industrial segment, and international representatives will compete in the global category. Over 3,000 participants are expected, including 195 contestants in the final rounds.
"The championship’s business program serves as a vital platform for strategic dialogue among businesses, educational institutions, and government bodies. Key topics will include workforce development strategies, enhancement of vocational education systems, implementation of effective training practices, career pathway creation, mentorship, and the synergy between education and industry," emphasized Sergey Kravtsov, Minister of Education of the Russian Federation.
Contestants will engage in three days of individual competitions and one day of team challenges, covering 15 skill areas in the main age group and 9 in the juniors category.

The business sessions will run from May 26 to 29 under the theme "Professionals: The Role of Leaders in Shaping Russia’s Human Capital."
The Professional Skills Championship stands as the largest event within the secondary vocational education system, with competencies aligned to real economic sector demands. In 2025, the final championship unfolds across three cities—Nizhny Novgorod, Kaluga, and Saint Petersburg—focusing on the most in-demand skills. Winners and runners-up will earn internships at Russia’s leading companies, cash prizes, and opportunities to land their dream jobs.
Part of the All-Russian Professional Mastery Championship movement, the 2025 events have already attracted participation from over 300,000 competitors nationwide.
