At the opening, 14-year-old Kvitka performed two songs inspired by the experiences of Ukrainian children. “The second song I sang is called Bird of Prey and it’s about freedom and life,” she explained.

She described how life changed after the invasion: “I didn’t get the life that I wanted, because before the war I had everything—great friends, my favourite school, a loving home. After the war began, I had to move to a different country, I lost contact with my friends, and I just miss my home. In the future, I hope to return home, be with my dog and family, and enjoy life again.”

Kvitka’s younger brother Luka, nine, has a part in Ivanko’s Childhood, a film shown at the event. He called the experience “super fun” and said he enjoyed meeting new people and making friends, and urged others to pursue their dreams.

Blaghitko emphasised the message: the exhibition centers on drawings from Ukrainian children who are living through war, offering a space to share their dreams, hopes, and feelings while they are thousands of kilometres from home. The event runs until Monday, 24 November, and coincides with World Children’s Day.
