Perseverance is the most advanced robotic geologist ever built by the U.S., launched from Cape Canaveral, Florida, on July 30, 2020. Its primary mission is to collect Martian soil samples, which specialized robots from NASA and the European Space Agency will retrieve in the late 2020s.
