Gunman Who Fired Hundreds of Rounds at CDC HQ Blamed Covid-19 Vaccines

Authorities say over 500 rounds were fired at the CDC campus in Georgia, killing a responding police officer.

A man fired more than 500 shots at the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) headquarters in Atlanta last Friday, investigators revealed, blaming the Covid-19 vaccine for his mental state.

Officer David Rose, 33, a recent graduate of the police academy and former Marine who served in Afghanistan, was fatally wounded during the incident. The gunman, identified as 30-year-old Patrick Joseph White, was later found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Investigation Findings

Authorities recovered 500 shell casings and determined that roughly 200 rounds struck six buildings within the CDC complex. Five firearms were seized at the scene. Investigators also uncovered written and verbal expressions of the suspect’s suicidal thoughts and deep distrust of Covid-19 vaccines, which he blamed for depression and suicidal impulses.

Campus Response

No CDC employees or civilians were injured, and return fire from law enforcement did not harm the shooter. FBI SWAT teams swept the facility to ensure no victims remained inside. A nearby daycare was evacuated, and all children were safely reunited with their families.

Weapon Access

Investigators determined White broke into a locked safe at his family home to obtain firearms owned by his father. The family has fully cooperated with authorities since the discovery.

Official Condolences

On Monday, US Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr visited the Atlanta campus to meet privately with Officer Rose’s widow. Kennedy offered his deepest condolences and reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to honoring Rose’s bravery and service.

In a message on X, Kennedy wrote: 'We are deeply saddened by the tragic shooting at CDC's Atlanta campus that took the life of Officer David Rose. We stand with his wife, three children, and the entire CDC family.'
