WhatsApp Introduces New Feature to Curb the Spread of Misinformation
WhatsApp is rolling out a feature that limits forwarding messages to only one group chat at a time to help reduce the spread of fake news globally.
This feature is currently undergoing active testing.
In the beta versions of WhatsApp (build 2.22.7.2 on Android and 22.7.0.76 on iOS), users have noticed a new restriction. When attempting to forward a message already marked as forwarded, the app allows sending it to only one group chat at a time.
To share the same post with multiple chats, users must select each chat individually, preventing quick mass forwarding with just a few clicks.

Similar restrictions were previously tested in Brazil as part of efforts to minimize the dissemination of fake news. Now, users worldwide have noticed this update, though it remains unclear when it will be available in the stable version of the app.
