Walter Isaacson Reveals Steve Jobs' Admiration for Mark Zuckerberg

While Zuckerberg's admiration for Jobs is widely recognized, Jobs' regard for the Facebook founder was less apparent until recently. When Graham asked Isaacson if Jobs ever mentioned Zuckerberg, Isaacson responded:
“Once I asked Jobs who in Silicon Valley he admired the most. The first name he mentioned was Mark.”
Isaacson also noted that Jobs' decision to discontinue Apple's social networking project, Ping, was partly influenced by his respect for Zuckerberg. In 2010, Jobs invited Zuckerberg to lunch to discuss Ping and its potential integration with Facebook. When asked why he ended the project, Jobs hinted it might be because Zuckerberg had executed the concept so well that multiple social networks were unnecessary.
