Other contributors described being groped, propositioned and verbally abused in court. One junior barrister recalls a male colleague asking if he should demonstrate sadomasochistic acts, then messaging her for a date. Another said a senior barrister offered to fund her training in exchange for an intimate relationship, calling her "frigid" when she refused.
Calls for Reform
Baroness Harman makes 36 recommendations, including mandatory anti-harassment training, a new conduct tsar, improved complaints procedures and bans on relationships with junior staff. She also criticizes judges who engage in inappropriate conduct, calling for stronger accountability to protect the rule of law.
"Bullying, harassment and sexual misconduct at the Bar undermine the rule of law and must be eradicated," the review states.
