Renowned for its commitment to environmental sustainability, Apple has continuously integrated advanced recycling technologies. Since 2016, the company utilized the Liam robot for responsibly recycling old iPhones, and now Daisy takes this mission to the next level.
Daisy expertly handles the disassembly of returned iPhones, extracting valuable parts for reuse in manufacturing new devices. This robot outperforms human capabilities by recognizing nine different iPhone models and dismantling three phones in under a minute.
Beyond rapid disassembly, Daisy also automatically sorts materials for recycling. For every 100,000 iPhones processed, it recovers nearly two tons of aluminum, about one kilogram of gold, eight kilograms of silver, and other precious metals, significantly advancing resource conservation.
The launch of Daisy coincides with Apple’s Earth Day initiative. From April 19 to April 30, the company will contribute proceeds from every recycled smartphone to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), supporting global environmental preservation efforts.
