Applications are open until January 21, 2022, for an exciting nationwide competition dedicated to sports projects. The grand prize winner will receive an impressive grant equivalent to approximately $13,500 USD.
On November 16, 2021, the Ministry of Sports of Russia launched the second season of the All-Russian Sports Project Competition "You're in the Game." This vibrant event unites thousands of sports enthusiasts and fosters groundbreaking initiatives that inspire citizens to adopt healthier, more active lifestyles. Participants can submit their projects until January 21, with winners announced by April 15, 2022.
The competition seeks dynamic ideas capable of integrating sports into everyday life for all citizens. It offers a platform for innovators to showcase their projects nationwide and develop them further. The top 250 entries gain access to an educational accelerator designed to enhance skills in sports management and project development. Winners of each category receive grants of around $4,000 USD, while the grand prize winner is awarded $13,500 USD to advance their project.
Now in its second year, last season attracted over 2,600 submissions from 85 regions. Organized by the National Priorities Autonomous Nonprofit Organization with support from the Ministry of Sports, this initiative is part of the federal "Sport — A Way of Life" project under the national "Demography" program.
"The first season demonstrated the rich diversity of community sports across the country. More importantly, the competition united like-minded individuals championing the values of our federal project. This season promises an equally engaging program, including an educational accelerator tailored to participants' needs. We encourage everyone to bring their ideas forward and fully realize their initiatives," emphasized Dmitry Chernyshenko, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation.
The competition welcomes a wide range of projects—from local startups to large-scale initiatives—covering children's, amateur, and adaptive sports. The focus is on innovations that are both engaging and beneficial for people of all ages and lifestyles. The five main categories include:
- Starting Point: Local or regional startups involving up to 500 participants.
- Scale: Nationwide projects with over 500 participants.
- Children in Sports: Initiatives focused on infrastructure, education, or events for children under 14.
- Sports Transformation: Digital services and innovative tools that enhance training, engagement, and sports technology.
- Unlimited Opportunities: Projects promoting active lifestyles, accessible environments, and inclusive sports education.
Supporting partners include prominent sports retailers and brands. For instance, "Sports Transformation" is backed by a leading sports store chain, while "Children in Sports" receives support from a renowned athletic brand. Additionally, two special partner categories are available:
- Media: For content creators covering sports events via podcasts, blogs, online platforms, or social media with audiences over 1,000.
- #OurSportHere: Hosted by a major multimedia operator, this category offers participants additional exposure through television and digital channels featuring documentaries and promotional content.
Participants can register online from November 16, 2021, through January 21, 2022. Both online and offline amateur sports projects are eligible. Individuals or organizations involving at least five people can apply.
"We appreciate the efforts of the National Priorities team in organizing this vital competition. It plays a crucial role in making sports accessible nationwide and aligns perfectly with our goals to promote health and active living. The diverse projects from last year showcased the multifaceted nature of sports across regions. We look forward to supporting initiatives that foster youth involvement, mass participation, and the promotion of sports through media," stated Oleg Matytsin, Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation.
By February 4, 2022, a longlist of 250 projects will be selected by independent experts, including entrepreneurs, sports managers, and university professionals. Evaluation criteria include uniqueness, relevance, social impact, scale, implementation quality, and development strategy. Scores will determine rankings within each category.
Further stages will involve an expert council composed of renowned athletes, sports industry leaders, and public figures such as Olympic champions and ambassadors of the federal sports project. Their expertise will guide the final selection process.
From February 11 to March 7, 2022, longlisted participants can join an online educational accelerator focused on sports management and project development. This tailored program addresses participants' needs, enabling them to refine their projects for subsequent presentation rounds.
Public voting will also commence on February 4, 2022, allowing the community to support favorite projects until April 1. The expert council will then narrow the list to 25 finalists, with the final presentations scheduled by April 15, 2022.
Leading sports media outlets will cover the competition extensively. The prominent Russian sports portal, a leader in online sports news, will feature participant stories and support the "Media" category. Additionally, a monthly glossy sports magazine will provide further media coverage.
Regular physical activity is vital for maintaining and enhancing health. The federal "Sport — A Way of Life" project prioritizes increasing participation in physical culture and sports across all demographics, developing mass and elite sports, improving infrastructure, and preparing skilled professionals to support the sports sector.
