Burnley Sign Veteran Goalkeeper Martin Dubravka from Newcastle United
Burnley have secured Slovak international Martin Dubravka on a one-year deal from Newcastle United as they strengthen their Premier League squad.
Burnley complete signing of Martin Dubravka
Burnley have agreed a one-year deal with Slovak goalkeeper Martin Dubravka from Newcastle United for an undisclosed fee. The 36-year-old arrives at Turf Moor after a seven-and-a-half-year spell at St James' Park, where he kept 51 clean sheets in 179 appearances across all competitions.
Key role in cup success
Dubravka was instrumental in Newcastle's Carabao Cup triumph last season, recording three clean sheets, including shutouts in both legs of the semi-final against Arsenal.
Adding experience to a rising squad
Burnley, promoted back to the Premier League with a record 100-point haul in the Championship, were searching for a replacement for James Trafford. Trafford returned to Manchester City in July for what became a British record fee for a goalkeeper.
"I’ve only heard positive feedback about the club, its culture and environment," Dubravka said on Burnley’s website. "I’m thrilled to bring my experience to a squad that showed great defensive resilience last season."
Burnley reinforce their goalkeeping options by securing a seasoned Premier League talent to bolster their top-flight campaign.
