Antony Price, Visionary British Designer for Bowie, Dies at 80
British designer Antony Price, celebrated for sculpted silhouettes and stage-ready looks worn by Bowie and Duran Duran, dies aged 80, leaving a lasting impact on fashion and performance style.
Antony Price, a bold British fashion designer, has died at the age of 80. The Yorkshire-born couturier helped shape glam-inspired tailoring and theatrical eveningwear that left a lasting imprint on fashion.
Price was best known for sculpted silhouettes and dramatic styles, including pastel suits that featured in Duran Duran's music video Rio. The band later paid tribute on social media, calling him a visionary and a friend with warmth and wit.
Price's death comes less than a month after he revealed a new London collection, marking his return to the fashion scene after more than 30 years. The show featured a dress worn by Lily Allen, inspired by Princess Diana's infamous black velvet revenge dress.

Born in Keighley, West Yorkshire, in 1945, Price moved to London in the early 1960s to study at the Royal College of Art.
A year after graduating, he began designing menswear at Stirling Copper and was responsible for the body-hugging, buttoned trousers Mick Jagger wore during The Rolling Stones' Gimme Shelter tour in 1969.
