Newcastle United said it failed to detect this oversight until recently and has since revoked 103 season tickets for breaching terms and conditions.
A club statement added: "We have not received any funds above the face-value price and have immediately returned the seats for sale to supporters who entered the official ballot."
The Newcastle United Supporters’ Trust welcomed the action, noting that reduced ticket availability and unauthorised reselling remain top concerns for fans.
