New MacBook Pro Models May Feature a 'Notch' Similar to the iPhone

Insiders from the Chinese social network Weibo have confirmed that Apple will announce new MacBook Pro models on October 18. These laptops are expected to be the first Macs to feature a small notch at the top of the display. This notch will house the FaceTime camera and ambient light sensors.
The notch is expected to be less intrusive than the one on the iPhone. Additionally, since the central part of the macOS menu bar is often empty, dividing it with a small inactive area may not significantly impact user experience.
Sources also suggest that Apple might paint the menu bar black to make the notch area blend seamlessly. The miniLED display technology, anticipated in the new MacBook Pro models, will help achieve true black colors, allowing the menu bar to merge with the notch background.
Another Weibo user shared a rough visualization of how the notch might look across the display. They also noted that the Touch ID button with a fingerprint scanner could adopt a circular shape with backlighting, and the keyboard base might be colored black, which is unusual for MacBooks.
Developer Saagar Jha added to these leaks by noting that the Safari Technology Preview build now includes references to the safeAreaFrame API for Mac screens. This API is similar to those used in iOS for managing content placement around notches and rounded screen corners.
We will find out for sure if the MacBook Pro will have a notch on October 18.
