Max Littleproud, a 28-year-old maths teacher from Manchester, claimed the INLIBER Sport League title and finished fifth overall worldwide, earning the Fantasy 606 trophy.
Beating the odds
Max led the global rankings in January, spent 22 weeks in the top 15, 18 weeks in the top 10 and three weeks as world No. 1.
"Towards Christmas I sensed it was going to be special, but I kept waiting for it to collapse," he says. "I even took a two-week holiday to Japan, facing 3am deadlines, but I ended up watching football on the flight."
He deleted X from his phone late in the season to ease the pressure and avoided most FPL content, relying on gut instinct rather than statistics. "You have to put yourself in a position to be lucky," he adds. "I picked Ashley Young for six weeks and gained over 60 points – a bold move that paid off."
