Starting this April, Russian airline Aeroflot will introduce paid internet services on short-haul flights. This year, 16 mid-range aircraft from the Airbus A320 family will be equipped with the necessary technology, while new Airbus A320neo and A350 models will come pre-installed with the required hardware. The airline's press service shared these details with Izvestia.
The cost for in-flight internet access is expected to range from $5 to $25, depending on the package chosen. Additionally, passengers can opt for unlimited messaging app access throughout the flight for approximately $5. The average data transfer speed is projected to be around 10 Mbps, ensuring smooth connectivity.
Other airlines, such as Utair and Ural Airlines, are considering adopting similar in-flight internet services on their aircraft. However, carriers like S7 Airlines, Rossiya, and Pobeda have yet to express interest in implementing this feature.
