William Creighton says it's a 'huge honour' to fight for the British Rally Championship title at Rali Ceredigion.

Creighton and co-driver Liam Regan have secured two victories this season, putting them in prime position to clinch the crown in the penultimate round.

The Motorsport Ireland driver, a former Junior World and British champion, narrowly missed out on last year's title. 'The competition has been fierce, and each rally has demanded something different,' Creighton said. 'Heading into Ceredigion, we're focused solely on delivering a clean, controlled performance.'

Championship scenarios

The two main contenders are Creighton and his Toyota teammate Meirion Evans. Creighton will seal the title if he wins and Evans finishes no higher than second, or if Creighton is second and Evans is below fourth. At minimum, a strong result will extend the championship fight to the final round, the Cambrian Rally in October.

Rali Ceredigion: A European test

Running alongside the European Rally Championship (ERC), Rali Ceredigion will draw top continental drivers to Wales. 'The stages are fast, technical and unforgiving,' Creighton added. 'With ERC competitors here, it’s the perfect benchmark against Europe's best.'

Other Irish drivers in action

Jon Armstrong, also representing Motorsport Ireland, is an outside contender for the ERC title with three rounds remaining. Fresh from a podium finish in the Czech Republic with co-driver Shane Byrne, Armstrong said he is 'really looking forward' to Welsh stages and aims for a clean run.

Irish Tarmac Rally Champion Callum Devine returns in a one-off drive with the MRF Tyres Skoda Fabia. 'I'm delighted for this chance,' Devine said. 'Adapting to new tyres will be crucial, but our goal is to support the team’s title bid.'

The battle at Rali Ceredigion will not only decide the British Rally Championship but also pit Ireland’s top drivers against Europe’s elite on Wales’ demanding stages.
