"Despite security precautions, it was unfortunately impossible to completely prevent losses among personnel," Ukraine's ground forces stated on social media.
This marks the third Russian strike on a Ukrainian military training unit in just over two months.
In May, an Iskander missile hit a camp near the northern border region of Sumy, killing six servicemen. Another strike last month resulted in 12 deaths and around 60 injuries.
Protecting troops during training exercises remains a critical concern. Ukraine's military announced an investigation into whether "actions or inaction of officials" contributed to the casualties in Tuesday's attack.
Following last month’s deadly strike, Ground Forces Commander Mykhailo Drapatyi resigned, noting that the victims were "young soldiers from a training battalion," most of whom had been sheltering at the time.
