The Swedish royal family has grown with the arrival of a new heir. Princess Sofia and Prince Carl have joyfully expanded their family, marking a heartwarming moment for the monarchy.
The world has welcomed another royal heir! In late March, Princess Sofia and Prince Carl became parents for the third time.
The year 2020 was particularly special for Prince Carl and Princess Sofia. It marked their fifth wedding anniversary and the tenth year since they first met. Additionally, the couple decided to expand their family with a new child.
They announced the pregnancy last December, although they did not specify how far along Princess Sofia was at the time.
Instead, the royal couple shared that they had contracted COVID-19 in late autumn.

Whether the pregnancy was planned or a happy surprise, Princess Sofia continued her work at a hospital treating COVID-19 patients during the pandemic. Unlike other royals who chose isolation, she remained actively engaged with society.

Princess Sofia maintained an active lifestyle even in the final weeks of her pregnancy. On March 17, she and Prince Carl participated remotely in a public event. Then, on March 26, the royal family announced that the 36-year-old princess had given birth to their third child, a son.
The couple welcomed their third consecutive son. The baby's name has not yet been revealed to the public.
Official updates confirm that both mother and newborn are healthy. The birth was reportedly smooth, as Princess Sofia left the Stockholm hospital just hours after delivery, accompanied by her husband. They departed without security or media fanfare, dressed casually and without makeup or heels.
Prince Carl and Princess Sofia simply exited through the main hospital entrance, carrying their newborn and headed home in their private vehicle, just like any ordinary family.
