How to Clean Your Facebook News Feed from Unwanted Cross-Posts
Learn effective steps to declutter your Facebook news feed by removing irrelevant cross-posts, ensuring you see only the most meaningful updates.
More than ever, my Facebook news feed has become my primary source for staying updated. However, achieving a clean and relevant feed took some effort. Initially, I trimmed my friend list from 3,700 to just 250, keeping only those who truly matter and share content that interests me. After eliminating endless group invites and notifications, I focused on filtering out cross-posts—posts automatically shared from platforms like Twitter, LinkedIn, LiveJournal, and others.
Ideally, Facebook should not flood your feed with cross-posts from these external sources. What I want to see are genuine recommendations, posts I’ve liked on websites or blogs, and manually added content. If you value a curated and meaningful social media experience, follow along to clean up your feed.
Take Twitterfeed cross-posts, for instance, marked by an orange icon. These automatically publish all entries from a user’s personal blog onto Facebook. Since cross-posts come from dedicated pages, you can easily block them. Click the arrow next to the post as shown in the screenshot and select Hide all by... to remove all posts from that source.
Similarly, cross-posts originating from LiveJournal can be blocked using the same method.
Many users cross-post Twitter content to your feed, either through standard publishing tools or specialized apps like the one shown below. These often include shortened links that clutter your feed unnecessarily. It's best to block these as well.
By performing this simple cleanup, you can significantly improve the quality and relevance of content you receive on Facebook.
