Disney's CEO, Robert Iger, revealed to investors that the company is developing remakes of several iconic films originally produced by 20th Century Fox. Among these are the timeless family favorites "Home Alone" and "Night at the Museum," alongside "Cheaper by the Dozen" and "Diary of a Wimpy Kid." All these titles will be exclusively available on Disney+.
Details regarding the release dates and formats of these remakes remain under wraps, but Iger emphasized that Disney aims to thoughtfully reimagine these stories to resonate with today’s audiences.
In addition, Disney has announced a reboot of the classic animated film "Lady and the Tramp," which will feature live-action and CGI elements. The voices behind the main characters include Tessa Thompson (known for "Creed" and "Westworld") as Lady, and Justin Theroux (famous for "Mulholland Drive" and "The Leftovers") as Tramp.
By the end of its first year, Disney+ plans to offer over 7,500 episodes of TV series and 400 films, providing an extensive entertainment library for subscribers. The streaming service officially launched on November 12.
