The survey highlights a key factor in economic stress: 60% of women have never asked for a raise, and 69% have never sought a promotion. Despite narrowing wage gaps, women earned about 84 cents per dollar earned by men in 2022, based on U.S. Census Bureau data.
Survey Details
Between January 9 and 22, 2024, Real Simple and ZAMONA surveyed 2,002 American women aged 18 and older online. The sample was weighted to reflect U.S. Census Bureau demographics including region, age, race/ethnicity, and income. Participants managed at least part of their own finances.
