When Women Feel Ready to Take Intimacy to the Next Level on a Date
Discover insights from a recent survey revealing how women approach intimacy in dating, highlighting varied perspectives on timing and emotional readiness.
Experts surveyed women to understand their attitudes toward intimacy on the first date. Notably, 27% expressed a preference to wait until at least 10 dates before becoming intimate.
Many relationship specialists advise against rushing into intimacy on the first date, especially for those seeking serious, lasting relationships. The initial meeting is a crucial stage for building connection, where conversations, smiles, and shared walks set the foundation. Physical closeness, like gentle touches and kisses, is ideally introduced gradually as trust develops.
A study conducted by the dating platform Mamba explored Russian women's views on first-date intimacy.

The findings revealed that 27% of respondents prefer to have at least 10 dates with a potential partner before becoming intimate. Meanwhile, 23% believe that ideally, there should be a minimum of three dates before engaging in sex.
Overall, intimacy on the first date is not a common choice among these women. More than half confessed that they have never experienced it. Additionally, 26% regretted having sex on the first date and would avoid repeating it. Conversely, 9% enjoyed the experience, and 3% fantasize about such spontaneous encounters.

Among those hesitant about first-date intimacy, 32% cited emotional unreadiness to progress too quickly. A quarter rejected the idea due to religious or personal beliefs. Another 23% took a practical stance, doubting the quality of intimacy with a stranger. Meanwhile, 20% worry that rushing intimacy could negatively impact future relationship dynamics.
Despite their personal views, most women surveyed expressed understanding toward individuals seeking casual encounters through dating.

Interestingly, while women tend to be cautious about intimacy with new acquaintances, attitudes shift when it comes to colleagues. Approximately one in three admitted to having intimate encounters following workplace introductions.
It’s important to approach online dating with care. Recently, discussions have surfaced about scams on platforms like Tinder, where manipulators exploit trust for financial gain. Staying vigilant and informed is key to safe dating experiences.
