Earlier, British hopefuls Jodie Burrage and Jay Clarke briefly reached court, with Burrage trailing 5-3 to the Dutch Arantxa Rus when play was stopped after 41 minutes. Clarke was down a break against France's top seed Arthur Cazaux. Other British qualifiers—including Billy Harris, Francesca Jones, Harriet Dart and Oliver Crawford—did not take to the courts.
Rain is expected to continue through Wednesday but should clear on Thursday, leaving sufficient time to finish the three rounds of qualifying before the singles main draw begins on Sunday. The US Open is the final Grand Slam of the 2025 season.
