Leading analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, known for his reliable insider information, has shared new insights about the iPhone 11 lineup just before its official unveiling.
He addressed popular rumors regarding a digital stylus, reverse wireless charging, and the switch to USB-C ports.
Contrary to earlier speculation, none of the iPhone 11 models will support a digital stylus, a feature that was frequently mentioned in previous leaks.
Additionally, Apple will not include reverse wireless charging capabilities that would allow users to charge accessories like smartwatches, earbud cases, or other smartphones. This decision mirrors the challenges Apple faced with the discontinued AirPower charging mat, as they were unable to achieve efficient charging performance.
Kuo also confirmed that the iPhone 11 series will retain the Lightning port this year, with no transition to USB-C. However, the charging cable might feature a USB-C connector on the opposite end, enabling direct charging from MacBooks without the need for adapters.
For the first time, the included power adapter will support fast charging up to 18 watts, but this enhancement applies only to the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max models. The standard iPhone 11, succeeding the iPhone XR, will come with a basic 5-watt USB-A charger.
All three new models will incorporate ultra-wideband (UWB) technology, improving indoor navigation and likely enabling compatibility with new accessories designed to help locate lost items.
Despite these features, Kuo predicts a 5–10% decline in iPhone 11 shipments due to limited consumer excitement. Apple is expected to offset this by reducing prices on older iPhone models.
The official Apple event is scheduled for today at 8:00 PM Moscow time and will be streamed live on YouTube for the first time.
