A late collapse costs Northern Superchargers top spot as Manchester Originals secure a five-run victory in the women’s Hundred at Old Trafford.

Northern Superchargers appeared on course for victory after Phoebe Litchfield and Alice Davidson-Richards put on 64 for the second wicket while chasing 118. However, Melie Kerr’s dismissal of Litchfield triggered a collapse of four wickets for 17 runs, and the chase faltered.
Needing 14 from the final 10 balls, Sophie Ecclestone fell to a superb catch by Deandra Dottin, and Lauren Filer then removed Kate Cross. The Superchargers finished on 112-7, five runs shy of the target.
Earlier, Kate Cross had given Originals a strong start by dismissing both openers cheaply. At 58-4, Deandra Dottin’s rapid 51 from 26 balls propelled Manchester to a defendable 117-5, moving them third in the standings with three wins from five games.
