Sanctuary staff member Frank told INLIBER: “We’re a conservation centre and this should never have happened.” KWS spokesperson Paul Udoto said a formal investigation is under way.

In a separate clip at Ol Pejeta Conservancy, the same tourist is seen feeding rhinos, another breach of park rules. Thige Njuguna from Ol Pejeta noted that visitors must not touch the rhinos, which are not pets.

Biologist Dr Winnie Kiiru warned that such interactions endanger both people and wildlife, adding that 95% of Kenya’s elephants are wild and close encounters mislead the public about safari norms.

This incident follows viral footage of tourists disrupting the annual wildebeest migration in the Maasai Mara, after which authorities imposed stricter regulations to keep visitors inside vehicles and improve park signage and visitor education.
