Ange Postecoglou admitted Nottingham Forest paid a heavy price for complacency after two late goals from Swansea saw the Championship side overturn a 2-0 deficit to win 3-2 and progress in the Carabao Cup.

Forest had stormed into a first-half 2-0 lead thanks to goals from Igor Jesus but failed to close out the tie after Cameron Burgess pulled one back. In stoppage time Swansea struck twice more: Zan Vipotnik levelled before Burgess secured the comeback.

Late Swansea Fightback

Postecoglou said: “We had plenty of chances to finish the game off but got comfortable at the wrong moment. We must learn to recognise warning signs and maintain intensity until the final whistle.”

He added that, despite signs of the style he wants to instill, Forest’s cup exit underlined areas that need improvement: “We should have seen it out better. It’s disappointing to miss this opportunity.”

Postecoglou warned against complacency after Forest’s failure to protect a two-goal lead cost them a place in the EFL Cup fourth round.
