Oliver Glasner Optimistic About Crystal Palace's European Appeal
Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner says he is confident the club will win its appeal against UEFA's decision to relegate them from the Europa League to the Europa Conference League.
Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner says he is confident the club will win its appeal against UEFA's decision to relegate them from the Europa League to the Europa Conference League.
The Eagles were sanctioned for alleged breaches of UEFA's multi-club ownership regulations after American investor John Textor, who holds a stake in Palace, was confirmed as majority owner of Lyon -- another Europa League qualifier.
In July, Palace lodged an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport, challenging the decision alongside Lyon and Nottingham Forest. Should UEFA's ruling stand, Forest would inherit Palace's Europa League spot following their seventh-place Premier League finish last season.
The hearing commenced on Friday and a ruling is anticipated by Monday.
"I remain optimistic," Glasner said ahead of Sunday's Community Shield clash with Liverpool. "I see no grounds for our demotion. I trust our leadership and daily operations team to have followed all regulations."
Glasner insists there is no basis for Palace's relegation to the Conference League and expects the appeal to succeed.
