According to his lawyer, Chukwujiekwu Chukwudi, Nwobu was found unresponsive in a hotel room in Benoni, a town on the outskirts of Johannesburg. Paramedics were unable to revive him, and a coroner’s investigation is expected to determine the cause of death.

Nwobu was born in Enugu in southeastern Nigeria in 1982. He started acting soon after finishing secondary school, landing his first professional role in the film Joseph the Dreamer. Although he enjoyed a prolific screen career, he later pursued content creation to gain greater creative freedom and amassed a large online following on TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube.

At the time of his passing, the actor was in South Africa with a group of influencers promoting a real estate project linked to a Nigerian founder; the trip was organized by a Nigerian company, for which Nwobu’s lawyer served as adviser. A July road accident earlier in the year had led some to speculate about his death, which he publicly addressed as misinformation.

He never married and reportedly left no children. His family has not issued a public statement yet.
