Armand Duplantis cleared 6.29m at the Hungarian Grand Prix in Budapest, setting his 13th world record in the men's pole vault.

The 25-year-old Swedish athlete, a double Olympic and world champion, surpassed his previous best of 6.28m achieved at the Stockholm Diamond League in June. He cleared the new height on his second attempt after missing at 6.11m.

Duplantis first broke Renaud Lavillenie’s long-standing 6.16m record in February 2020 and has since raised the bar in one-centimetre increments.

After the record, he celebrated with his family and partner, Desire Inglander, and now heads to the Silesia Diamond League in Poland, where he plans to compete this Saturday.

Looking ahead, Duplantis aims to join Sergey Bubka as the only men to win three consecutive world outdoor pole vault titles when he competes in Tokyo next month. Bubka holds the historic marks of 17 outdoor and 18 indoor world records set between 1984 and 1994.

Duplantis’s incremental approach to breaking the world record reflects his precision and consistency at the highest level of pole vaulting.
