"One morning, I woke up with the pad stuck to my skin, which caused a rash. Within two days, I was hospitalized with necrotizing fasciitis and septic shock," she recounted.
The woman criticized manufacturers for using harsh chemicals in hygiene products. At her worst, she struggled to breathe, experienced intensified bleeding, and her heart rate soared to 145 beats per minute.

Emergency surgery was necessary, but her critical condition made doctors warn her of a possible fatal outcome. Initial treatment involved blood transfusions and intravenous medications to stabilize her blood pressure. After ten days of intensive care, surgeons removed the infected tissue.
"I spent seven days in a regular hospital ward and underwent another surgery to close the wound from the first operation. I've heard many women complain about rashes from pads. I used them for 14 years without issues, but after this ordeal, I will never buy them again," the British woman shared.
Her story sparked concern among women worldwide about the safety of widely used menstrual hygiene products. However, Dr. Bayekal, speaking to Cosmopolitan UK, reassured the public but emphasized the importance of self-monitoring. He strongly advised changing pads every 2-3 hours to minimize risks.
Harmful bacteria can multiply rapidly and usually exist harmlessly on the skin until a small cut or abrasion allows infection to take hold. The doctor urged anyone noticing persistent rashes, swelling, blisters, redness, or symptoms like high fever, diarrhea, or severe pain to seek immediate medical attention.
