Spain's Young Princess Shines with Grace and Elegance at a Prestigious Cultural Event

Discover how Spain's future queen captivates with her poise and dedication to royal duties ahead of her international studies in Wales.

This September, Spain's Princess Leonor is set to embark on a new chapter by moving to Wales to attend a renowned international college. Meanwhile, she continues to diligently fulfill her royal responsibilities at home. Recently, the young princess made her first solo public appearance, marking a significant milestone in her royal journey.

At just 15 years old, Princess Leonor, the eldest daughter of King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia, has been gradually stepping into the spotlight. While she has previously attended official events alongside her parents, this time she confidently represented the Spanish monarchy on her own by attending the 30th anniversary celebration of the Cervantes Institute in Madrid.

For the occasion, the future queen wore a charming dress by the Spanish brand Poete, featuring delicate ruffles, paired with elegant low-heeled black pumps from Pretty Ballerinas—a favorite among young fashion enthusiasts worldwide. Her style echoes that of her British counterpart, Kate Middleton, who is known for gracefully re-wearing beloved outfits at formal events. Notably, Princess Leonor had worn this same dress at an official event back in October 2020.

In keeping with royal etiquette, Princess Leonor brought a meaningful gift to the celebration. She presented the Cervantes Institute with a copy of the Spanish Constitution, which she held during her very first public speech in 2019.

Additionally, she entrusted the institute with a replica of the classic novel "Don Quixote" by Miguel de Cervantes. Interestingly, this literary masterpiece was read aloud by Princess Leonor and her younger sister, 13-year-old Princess Sofia, during a live social media event commemorating World Book Day in April 2020.

  • The Spanish royal family often projects resilience and unity, even during challenging times.

While Princess Leonor remains engaged with her royal duties, she is preparing to continue her education at UWC Atlantic College in Wales this fall.

"Her Royal Highness Princess of Asturias will pursue the International Baccalaureate program. Like her fellow students, Princess Leonor will reside at the boarding school situated on the college's scenic campus," the official statement read.

The tuition and boarding expenses, totaling approximately $92,000, are generously covered by her father, King Felipe VI. Often affectionately dubbed the "hippie Hogwarts," UWC Atlantic College offers an exceptional learning environment for royal heirs. The school is housed in a 12th-century medieval castle on St Donat's Island in the Glamorgan Valley. Here, Princess Leonor will study alongside peers from diverse countries, embracing a truly global education.
