This feature leverages Samsung Knox Vault technology to securely protect personal information from unauthorized access during repairs, eliminating the need to perform a factory reset before servicing.
Activating Repair Mode before visiting a service center restarts the device in a secure environment where only essential system apps are accessible to technicians. Additionally, temporary data required for diagnostic testing can be recorded safely.
Personal data such as photos, contacts, call logs, and messages remain protected and inaccessible to service personnel. To exit Repair Mode and restore full access, users must authenticate using a pattern lock or fingerprint, which also removes any temporary files created during the repair process.
Currently, this feature is available exclusively on Galaxy S21 series devices in South Korea. Samsung plans to extend Repair Mode to additional models in the future. While international availability has not yet been announced, South Korea is expected to serve as a testing ground to ensure a flawless user experience before a global rollout.
