Developed by Hanyang Technology in Shenzhen, the Snowbot S1 is a compact, self-propelled snow removal robot equipped with durable rubber tracks and powered by a built-in rechargeable battery.
To navigate open outdoor spaces, the Snowbot S1 relies on three ultra-wideband radio beacons strategically placed around the snow clearing area, which can be your home driveway or a parking lot. A fourth beacon attached to the robot itself helps it determine its exact position and follow a pre-planned route accurately.
If your snow clearing area has an irregular shape, you can manually set the route through the app, similar to how robotic vacuum cleaners operate. Additionally, full manual control is available via the included gamepad. For safety, the Snowbot S1 is equipped with LiDAR technology to detect obstacles, alerting users with an audible signal if any are encountered.
Depending on the surface—whether asphalt or gravel—the robot first removes snow using either a scraper or a rotating brush. Then, a robust rubber auger throws the snow through a rotating chute that can swivel 360 degrees, directing the snow away from the cleared path effectively.
The Snowbot S1 can throw snow up to 12 feet (3.6 meters) away and handle snow depths up to 12 inches (30 cm). Its speed adjusts automatically based on snow accumulation, ensuring optimal performance. On a single battery charge, the robot operates for up to 1.5 hours, covering an area of approximately 1,500 square feet (140 square meters).
Weighing around 143 pounds (65 kg), the Snowbot S1 requires minimal maintenance—primarily charging and occasional lubrication. Currently in beta testing, interested customers can pre-order the Snowbot S1 for $1,999 on the official website, with the final production model to be provided free of charge after testing.
