Friday Fix: Episode 61
It’s challenging to maintain mental resilience when you continuously give away your power. Many unknowingly fall into mental traps that leave them feeling powerless. There are numerous subtle ways you might be relinquishing control without realizing it.
For example, spending excessive time fixating on someone you dislike grants them influence over your time. Allowing others to mistreat you or staying silent to avoid seeming impolite can result in giving them control over your emotions and day. Holding grudges also drains your emotional energy and strengthens their hold on you.
Remember, harboring resentment only harms you, not the person who hurt you. To reclaim your power, you must take ownership of your thoughts, feelings, and actions. This means consciously deciding how much time and energy you invest in people and activities around you.
In today’s episode of The Verywell Mind Podcast, I share a straightforward yet impactful exercise designed to help you regain control and boost your sense of empowerment.
This technique is one I frequently use in therapy sessions. Although it might feel intimidating initially, embracing your personal power can unlock new possibilities you never imagined.
