When I started learning a third language, my phone quickly filled up with a diverse collection of songs in German, spanning genres from rap to disco. However, I soon faced a challenge: each genre sets a specific mood and suits different activities. For example, while working out, I prefer not to overload my mind by trying to translate German rap lyrics on the fly, but I still want to enjoy rap in English or Russian.
Today, I found an excellent solution: using smart playlists in iTunes.
First, I tagged each song with its genre and language by adding this information in the comments field. Since I have a large music library, this step helps me keep track and avoid confusion. To streamline this, I enabled the comments and genre columns in my song list, making it easy to spot any missing tags.
Once all songs were properly tagged, I created smart playlists based on these criteria.
In the end, I had a neatly organized list of playlists tailored to my moods and activities.
