To demonstrate this vulnerability, Page recorded a short video. The experiment was conducted on Internet Explorer 11 running on the latest versions of Windows 7, Windows 10, and Windows Server 2012 R2.
In late March 2019, John reported this finding to Microsoft, but the company did not consider the issue serious and promised to fix it in "future updates." It appears the fix has been postponed indefinitely.
Despite Microsoft's stance, this vulnerability could pose a significant threat. To safeguard your data, uninstall Internet Explorer from your computer or avoid opening any MHT files.
