Grant Forrest admits a surreal FaceTime call with US President Donald Trump topped off his NEXO Championship victory.

The 32-year-old from West Lothian secured a four-stroke win at the Trump-owned course near Aberdeen last month. Shortly afterwards, he received a video call from the course owner, who also happens to be the President of the United States.

"It was bonkers," Forrest said. "I barely got a word in. It felt more like talking to the course owner than the President, but it was definitely cool. I'll never forget it."

He added with a laugh: "If you told me on Monday that I'd be FaceTiming the President on Sunday night, I wouldn't have believed it."

Chasing a PGA Tour Card

This week, Forrest is one of eight Scots playing in the DP World Tour's flagship event, the PGA Championship at Wentworth. He is aiming to finish in the top 10 to earn a PGA Tour card.

Currently 39th on the rankings, Forrest knows there are still significant points to be won in the final weeks of the season. "Whether you're fighting to stay in the top 90 or pushing for PGA Tour status, there’s always something to play for," he said. "I'm focusing on my game and taking it one event at a time."

Learning from Rory

On Monday, Forrest practiced at Wentworth with Ludvig Aberg and Rory McIlroy, fresh from his Irish Open victory. "It was great to measure myself against two of the best," Forrest said. "Rory's consistency and work ethic are remarkable—after our round, he went straight to the gym. That's why he wins so much."

Forrest's surprise call with the US President underlines the unexpected moments that can come with success, as he continues to pursue further achievements on the DP World Tour.
