Game designer Sean Noonan has unveiled a creative reinterpretation of the legendary Super Mario Bros. His modification transforms the iconic first level into a fully immersive 3D first-person shooter featuring stunning graphics and thoughtfully redesigned environments. The demo video, showcased on the Gman Lives channel, demonstrates such meticulous design and polish that this fan-made mod could easily be mistaken for an official Nintendo release.
In this shooter adaptation, the beloved plumber no longer breaks blocks by jumping but uses plungers as his weapon of choice—targeting both blocks and enemies. What makes this project especially captivating is the playful, cartoonish style of the weaponry, perfectly fitting the child-friendly Mario universe without any hint of danger or violence. Originally developed as a quick contest entry, Sean decided to fully develop the mod and make it accessible to all fans eager to try it out.
Just like the original game, the level includes an underground section accessible via pipes. Completing the level takes around 10 minutes for first-time players, and currently, this is the only level available in this format. Sean has not announced plans to expand the mod to other stages yet. The project is nearing completion, and the level will soon be available for download and solo play.
